Our Pastor is the Reverend John Martin. John and his family have been at our church since 1990. John was born in 1944 and raised in Orinda, California. John and his wife Robin have been married 20 years and have two sons. Ordained in 1969, John has served churches in California (Orinda, Santa Cruz, Glendale, Stanford University, and Arvin) and in Montana. Besides his divinity degree from Pacific School of Religion, John also holds degrees from Stanford University in History and in Religious Studies, and from Chapman University in Psychology.
Our Pastor Emeritus is the Reverend William Hendren. He was born in 1928 and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He is a 1950 graduate of Carleton College, Northfield, Minnesota. He then served two years in the Army during the Korean War and next entered the business world. In 1956 he entered graduate school at Pacific School of Religion, Berkeley, California to prepare for the Christian ministry. He graduated in 1959, cum laude, and became pastor of the North Berwyn Congregational Church in Berwyn, Illinois. In 1966 he was called to be pastor of Church of the Foothills, Ventura, California, a position he held for 23 years before retiring in 1989. His wife Aleen died in 1984 and he married his present wife Heather in 1986. Between them they have five children and six grandchildren.
